This is a serious text, written in a clear and witty style. With 1,200 illustrations and photos, these 624 full-color pages make preparation for the FAA private pilot oral and knowledge examsand flight reviews, tooa fun experience.
It’s best to train with only one highly regarded, seasoned instructor for your flight lessons. This ensures continuity in training, no gaps in knowledge and
the benefit of learning from a skilled instructor with in-depth experience. The same is true with ground training. One highly experienced author ensures a deeper understanding of important aviation knowledge.
Rod’s readers continually benefit from his years of experience. Instructing since 1973, Rod personally writes, illustrates and updates all his books, too. Each one of his illustrations is there to teach, not just decorate. The text also explains why things work the way they do. This improves understanding and helps the reader remember. The result is higher test scores and a safer, more competent, and more confident pilot.

Yesterday I took the Private Pilot Written Test, and thanks to Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook, I aced the test, maxed the paper, 100% !!!

Rod’s outstanding explanations on such topics as weight and balance, FAR's. and his quick course airspace allowed me to get a 100% score on the FAA knowledge test !!! The mnemonics Rod developed for the chapter, "Airspace: The Wild Blue, Green and Red Yonder" allowed me to fully understand the airspace system and remember all the particulars!

I am a 13-year-old student pilot from Michigan. I have read ROD MACHADO’S PRIVATE PILOT HANDBOOK, and I found that it was one of the easiest books on flying to understand. (I still don't know how he put all those FAR'S into such simple terms). Anyway, I just thought I'd send this to say I enjoyed Rod’s teaching.

RMPPH is an excellent book. I used it for studying for my Private Pilot Written Airplane Exam, and it helped A LOT!! I made a 95. And the questions I missed, were my fault, (because I didn't fully read the questions.)

I am a relatively recently "minted" private pilot. I have just received Rod Machado’s Pilot Handbook and Instrument Survival Guide (I am thinking about getting instrument rated). They are truly unique books. I have the [Brand X] video series and I studied hard to get my private license. However, concepts that I never really understood, even though I knew the right answers for the written test, are now locked in my mind with crystal clarity thanks to Rod’s analogies and visualizations. I cannot put Rod’s book down until I finish it.

I love Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook. I use it nearly every day in my job as a flight instructor. It really is a great achievement. It covers more of the material than the [Brand X] text book, but Rod makes it so much more understandable and enjoyable.

In thinking about next year's biennial review, I've been studying Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook. The [Brand X] book is just too dreary and legalspeak to bother with and Brand X puts me to sleep.

Thanks to Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook I just passed my private pilot check ride. I was so nervous that I had one question I wasn’t sure of during the oral, but I took out Rod’s book and I was right. I have every book out there, but when I started using Rod’s book, it made studying fun and easy to learn. I hope to start my instrument in a week and I'm looking forward to using Rod’s instrument book with help from Rod’s material and my CFI I can't fail.
