Rod is an example as a genuine professional and source of motivation. I've listened to his audio series twice and always find new insights to help me develop a teaching approach of my own. Just as we teach students to recognize and repeat the flight attitudes during lessons, I am certain that Rod has provided me with an emotional attitude that I have been able to model.

About a year and a half ago, just after getting my private pilot's certificate, I bought Rod Machado’s audiocassettes [now CDs] I enjoyed them thoroughly. But here's the proof that they're excellent for training: I decided, after all this time, to listen to the series again. I realized that a lot of what Rod discusses, I am actually now doing as a result of listening to the tapes a year and a half ago. This includes thinking about "what are the next two things..." This is especially valuable as I am just beginning my instrument training. Also, I realize that my better-than-average radio habits came out of Rod’s discussion about acting and sounding like a pilot-in-command. Not realizing it until now, I've integrated Rod’s ideas into my regular flying habits. This stuff actually works! So I wanted to share another success story.

I just earned my CFI and I have never been so excited to put it to use. I can't wait to teach others to do what it is I love to do the most. I'm just a huge fan of his and love how he incorporate humor in flying and make it that much more enjoyable to those who hear him.

I've listened to Rod’s audio series at least seven times, so far. When I get to 17 times I might stop. Maybe. Why? Because to paraphrase Jay Abraham; "It takes great arrogance to think you can read a book once and ingrain all the knowledge which took the author a life time to discover." Besides he is hilarious! Hey Rod, make more tapes!

I have watched Rod’s videos, listened to his audio programs and read Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook. I enjoyed them very much and refer back to them.

My husband and I just missed Rod at Sun 'n Fun, but we managed to pick up just about every audio tape [CD] and book he has. We laughed playing them all the way home. My husband is a pilot and I am trying to find the courage to do the same and hearing Rod has caused my adventure to begin.

I have a complaint about Rod’s audio programs. I'm a student pilot who purchased Rod’s audio programs. As a refrigeration technician, my work takes me all over the world. While on a drive, listening to Rod’s audio program I was laughing so hard I missed my exit. Not too bad, I'll turn around at the next. Same thing happened. So I turned the radio on and made the next one.

We have every student we train listen to Handling In-flight Emergencies for safety's sake. (Disks 7, 8 & 9)

I'm a private pilot with a whopping 81 hours experience! I bought Rod’s audio programs, and I must say, they should be considered a safety hazard to listen to them while you're driving. I nearly laughed myself off the road on several occasions while driving to Florida last year! Rod is a great inspiration to us newbies, (albeit a soon to be 40 year old newbie!) and I have thoroughly enjoyed Rod’s teaching methods and his approach to aviation, and the pleasurable hours of listening.

Rod’s seminars are inspiring. I really enjoy them. It was very nice to see the person behind the videos and the books I use. With his lively way to approach such a serious subject as is flying safe an aircraft, Rod really inspires and teaches people to fly better at the same time that we have fun.

As a CFI, I always require my students to buy Rod’s books, because he takes the difficult concepts and make them not only fun to learn but simple to comprehend. (The turn coordinator as an example.) Like all good educators/speakers, Rod understands the importance of trying to get just a few key messages to "stick" in the audience’s consciousness. The messages I walked away from his session recently were: "Every decision you take in a cockpit has been made long before you get in the airplane", and "Resist the temptation to alter that decision". I had an opportunity to uses this advice in action last Saturday when the engine in my 1970 Bonanza decided to make life very exciting while flying home. Rod’s was one of the most recent consciousness raising events to help prepare me for this challenge. …[Edited due to length: incredible story, with successful forced field landing. Good job B.G.!]… Rod’s adding to my training helped. I intend to continue to, as Rod advises, "read lots of books and ask lots of questions".
